The festival begins with Ghatasthapana, when barley seeds are sown in a sacred vessel to grow jamara, which is later used during blessings. Each day carries religious significance, especially the eighth and ninth days, which involve worship of Goddess Durga and traditional animal sacrifices. On the tenth day, known as Vijaya Dashami, elders apply tika and jamara to younger family members while offering blessings for prosperity, good health, and long life
